Kent was the first child of Francis & Annie to be born with red hair. It was quite a surprise to his mother -- at the hospital, she claimed he was not hers.

In his adult years, Kent took quite a bit of responsibility for his elderly parents. He did not brag about this, my parents probably knew, but I did not until recently. As Frant and Annie had owned their own business for years, he hired them at his, therefore providing their social security requirements so they could retire.

Initial Comment by Laree: My mother, Alice Mae White Esplin, died October 19, 1985. I was so grateful to have my husband, Dave Thomas, to be a sensitive, patient, support at that time. I couldn't imagine how I could have survived that loss without him. However, when Dave died in 1994, I was overwhelmed with the injustice of having to survive losing my husband, and not having my mother to help me survive it.
